The effect of impurity concentration (Cu,Ag,Pt) on the Bordoni peak relaxation and on the internal friction background is used to analyze the interaction mechanism between substitutional impurities and dislocations. The Bordoni peak QB-1 decreases as c increases; the internal friction background as a function of c has a maximum. An analysis of these results shows that the evolution of the peak height can be described by a mechanism of solid solution hardening with a restoring force proportional to c and that a viscous term proportional to the impurity concentration must be introduced to explain the evolution of the internal friction background. Further, this description shows that the length of the dislocation depends neither on c nor on the doping element. © 1979.
