摘要
In this paper we analyse the decision by teachers to leave the profession. Our results affirm the importance of relative earnings in the tenure and turnover decisions of teachers. The econometric modelling approach used yields important insights into the appropriateness of adopting a flexible, semi-parametric specification of the duration dependence structure and of the unobserved heterogeneity distribution in duration models.
