DESIGN OF A 5 GHZ WINDOW IN A LOWER-HYBRID RF SYSTEM

摘要
A new pill-box window at a frequency of 5 GHz, which has an oversized length in both the axial and the radial direction, has been designed to reduce the r.f. power density and the electric field strength at the ceramics. The dimension of the new pill-box is optimized from the numerical calculation and a voltage standing-wave ratio of less than 1.02 is obtained. The r.f. power density and the maximum electric field strength are reduced to about 40% and 66% of the standard pill-box window respectively. It is evaluated that the power capability of the new oversized pill-box window by cooling edge of ceramics is more than 500 kW with continuous-wave operation.
