Gas-solid reactions of the ammonia--chloride type are monovariant. There are particular problems in studying thermodynamic processes using such reactions coupled with a gas-liquid phase change or another gas-solid reaction. Irreversibilities of chillers based on the thermicity of such reversible reactions are analysed and their effects on the practical COP are studied. Thorough knowledge of mass and heat transfers in fixed beds or reactors and their coupling with the kinetics of the solid-gas reaction is very important. Practical values of performances of machines require the knowledge of accurate models to describe the succession of the different phases of the process.
