摘要
Negative images of the ghetto have been reinforced in the geographical literature and perpetuate a placism toward black residential areas. This paper examines the growth of the San Diego ghetto as it has expanded beyond its original inner-city location into a classic suburban landscape. Although segregation is in many ways increasing, this new ghetto conforms to few of the classic stereotypes. An attempt is made to generalize about the ghetto-forming processes in the post-civil rights era and to develop a model relating to the creation of more positive types of black communities. -Authors
