AN OPTICAL METHOD FOR DETECTING ANESTHETICS AND OTHER LIPID-SOLUBLE COMPOUNDS

摘要
We have developed a fluorescence-based fiber optic biosensor for detection of general anesthetics. It monitors anesthetic-induced changes in fluorescence emission by labeled liposomes entrapped in a hydrogel at the end of two optical fibers. We have demonstrated that this sensor is sensitive to clinically relevant concentrations of commonly used general anesthetics. The sensor may be used for remote measurements of various lipid-soluble chemicals in gas, liquid or solid phases (e.g., blood and tissue). © 1990.
