RECENT PENETRATION DEPTH MEASUREMENTS OF THE HIGH-T(C) SUPERCONDUCTORS AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS

We report recent measurements of the temperature dependence of the superconducting penetration depth of the high-T(c) superconductors YBCO and 2212 BSCCO. Both superconductors show a non-BCS T2 temperature dependence at low temperatures. At the lowest temperatures, sample-dependent deviations from this T2 dependence are seen for YBCO but not for BSCCO at least down to 5 K We discuss the implications of these results.
