摘要
These analyses show that the measured stiffness of a material is strongly dependent on the boundary conditions applied during the mechanical test. Considerable care needs to be taken both in designing tests and in extrapolating the results to the material in situ in the body. For instance, trabecular bone would be expected to be considerably stiffer and stronger when surrounded by compact bone and these considerations are illustrated by the careful experiments of F. Linde and I. Hvid.
