摘要
1. Organic constituents of the hemolymph of the adult stable fly, Stomoxys calcitrans (L.) were analysed before and after the first blood meal. 2. Hemolymph trehalose concentration decreases after a blood meal and remains low throughout digestion. 3. Hemolymph glucose concentration decreases immediately following a blood meal but rises to a level higher than that before feeding and that in the ingested blood during digestion. 4. Trehalase activity is present in the stable fly hemolymph at 58.4 pmol/min/mu-l at 30-degrees-C. 5. Free amino acid content in the stable fly hemolymph is high. 6. Proline is the major free amino acid in the hemolymph, accounting for as much as 72% of the total amino acids.
