摘要
Neodymia, when added during the preparation of TEOS (tetraethyl orthosilicate)-derived gel, causes the gel to harden and helps it retain monolithicity during a rather fast (approximate to 10 degrees C/min) heating schedule. An increase in surface area and pure volume in the doped gel are believed to be responsible for its excellent ability to retain monolithicity during gel-to-glass conversion.
