s-A shielded three-mediumstrip line is proposed for the traveling-wave microwave modulation of light. The microwave velocity of thisstructure is evaluated based on a variational formula. Numerical values are presented for the case of a line comprising layers of carbon disulfide, glass, and air. © 1969 IEEE. All rights reserved.
