ANALYTICAL STRATEGIES USING INTERDIGITATED FILAR MICROELECTRODES

Two Innovations are described that allow us to better understand the analytical value of multiple, Intercommunicating microelectrodes. We describe an approximate solution for the transient currents at twin Interdigitated electrodes. Then, by computing the algebraic sum and difference between the generator and collector currents, we show how new and valuable analytical Information may be obtained. Inspection of the analytic solution for the difference current shows that this current approaches steady state 4 times faster than either generator or collector currents alone. This is verified experimentally, and the electrodes behave as though the distance between them were halved. © 1990, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
