摘要
Estimates of the rates of odour emission from cattle feedlots are required to assess the efficacy of odour abatement practices and as inputs to odour dispersion models. In this paper the available data on odour emissions and the methods of measurement are reviewed with a view to selecting preferred methods of measurement for use in a programme aimed at developing a model for the prediction of odour emission rates. It is concluded that wind tunnels are the most reliable means of sampling point emissions provided the tunnel wind speed duplicates ambient conditions. Two methods, one (the TPS method) derived from a mass balance and employing theoretical wind speed profiles, and the other using a Gaussian dispersion model, offer the means for the estimation of spatial average emission rates. © 1994 Silsoe Research Institute.
