ACYLATION OF DIACYLGLYCEROLS IN PIG LIVER

A pig liver microsomal fraction catalyzed the formation of radioactive triacylglycerols and 1,2‐diacyl‐sn‐glycerols when incubated with different X‐1,2‐diacylglycerols, ATP, CoA, MgCl2 and radioactive fatty acids. Analysis of the radioactive diacylglycerols suggested that they were formed by acylation at position 1 of 2‐monoacylglycerols, which were produced by hydrolysis of the added X‐1,2‐diacylglycerols. No difference between 1,2‐diacyl‐sn‐glycerols of different degree of unsaturation and various rac‐1,2‐diacylglycerols as substrates for triacylglycerol and diacylglycerol formation could be detected. 1,3‐Dioleoyl‐sn‐glycerol was about half as effective as rac‐1,2‐dioleoylglycerol as substrate for triacylglycerol synthesis and caused no formation of radioactive diacylglycerols.
