Ten species of grasses in 8 genera were tested as hosts (survival and reproduction) for 4 species of cereal aphids. Greenbug, Schizaphis graminum (Rondani), did best on Agropyron intermedium (Host) Beauv., Alopecurus arundinaceus Poir, and Dactylis glomerata L.; English grain aphid, Macrosiphum avenae (F.), on Agropyron cristatum (L.) Gaertn., A. intermedium, Alopecurus arundinaceus, and Psathyrostachys (=Elymus) junceas Fisch.; Rhopalosiphum padi (L.) on Alopecurus arundinaceus, Agropyron cristatum, and Bromus inermis Leyss. The com leaf aphid, Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch) did not do well on any of the grasses tested, which in addition to those already mentioned, included: Agropyron smithii Rydb., Andropogon gerardii Vitm., Panicum virgatum L., and Phalaris arundinacea L. © 1979 Entomological Society of America.
