摘要
The effect of varying oxygen stoichiometry on the spin dynamics and electronic state of a transition-metal ion in doped57 CuO has been studied. Oxygen deficiency results in an increase in the spin-lattice relaxation rate. The charge state of the iron shifts towards the Fe2+ state with increasing oxygen deficiency. The change in the charge state may be attributed to a dependence of charge-transfer energy and/or the transfer integral on oxygen vacancies. The present studies demonstrate some similarities in the behavior of CuO with that of high-temperature superconductors with respect to the effect of oxygen stoichiometry. © 1994 The American Physical Society.
