摘要
A 9. 9 degree grain boundary in aluminium is analyzed by means of the O lattice method. Since the rotation angle is relatively small, the interpretation is given in terms of primary and secondary relaxation. The primary corresponds to a subgrain boundary, and the secondary to the deviation from a coincidence boundary. While the most striking features (set of parallel lines) are model independent, the finer details give preference to the secondary interpretation, yet with coincidence periods around 100 crystal units. It is suggested that the tendency of the crystal to conserve such large periods is due more to specially stable relaxation clusters than to the periodicity of the pattern itself.
