PRESSURE DEPENDENCE OF LATTICE PARAMETERS OF MNSB AND MNTE

摘要
The effect of pressure up to 170 kbar has been measured on the lattice parameters of MnSb and MnTe at room temperature. MnSb exhibits an anomalous compression in a axis below 65 kbar, at which the Curie temperature falls to room temperature; -Δ a a0 = 1.32 × 10-4P + 4.64 ×10-6P2(below 65 kbar, ferromagnetic state), -Δ a a0 = 2.7 × 10-3 + 4.64 × 10-4P - 1.21 × 10-6P2 (above 65 kbar, paramagnetic state), -Δ c c0 = 9.42 × 10-4 P - 2.50 × 10-6P2 (through pressure range). This anomaly in the low-pressure range has been explained by the pressure dependence of the volume magnetostriction. MnTe exhibits the compression in a and c axes through pressure range, -Δ a a0 = 5.52 × 10-4 P -1.18 × 10-6 P2, -Δ c c0 = 10.6 × 10-4 P - 2.79 × 10-6 P2. The pressure dependence of the Néel temperature has been discussed by the c a ratio. © 1969.
