摘要
We present multicolour photometry and polarimetry of the binary system AM Herculis, obtained in 1979 September. From the wavelength dependence of the circular polarization curve we derive a geometrical model for the system. By comparison with earlier observations we find that changes in the orientation of the system must have occurred. We propose that the rotation axis of the white dwarf is inclined to the orbital axis of the binary and precesses about it. © Royal Astronomical Society.
