For α-particle tracks in cellulose acetate detectors there is a correlation between the diameters of the track holes and the particle energies3,4). On this basis there is a possibility to distinguish α-groups of different energy produced by nuclear reactions and to measure their angular distributions. In the present work the usefulness of the cellulose acetate (T-cellit) track detectors was investigated for determining angular distributions of α0, α1, α2 and α3 groups from the reaction 19F(d,α)17O. To check the results obtained by solid-state track detectors the angular distributions were determined also by using a semiconductor detector. The relative angular distributions measured by these two different methods after normalizing were in good agreement with each other within the limit of the statistical accuracy. It is concluded that the cellulose acetate track detectors can be used successfully for studying the angular distributions of α-particles from nuclear reactions. © 1968.
