THERMODYNAMICS OF LITHIUM CHLORIDE AND LITHIUM BROMIDE IN PROPYLENE CARBONATE

摘要
The electrochemical cell Li|Li+, X-|TlX, Tl (Hg), where X = Cl or Br has been studied over a small temperature range in anhydrous propylene carbonate. The thermodynamic quantities ΔG°, ΔH°, and ΔS° have been evaluated and compared to other solvents such as water, N-methylformamide, and methanol. There appears to be widely differing behavior of cations and anions in these solvents where the dielectric constants vary from 30 to 182.
