THE CONDUCTIVITY OF CONCENTRATED SUSPENSIONS AT LOW-FREQUENCIES

摘要
A cell-model formula is obtained for the low-frequency conductivity of a concentrated suspension of spheres with thin double layers. The formula is found to provide a good fit of the data for latices over a wide range of particle concentration. Furthermore, surface conductivity values obtained from this comparison of experiment and theory are in accord with values determined earlier (B. R. Midmore, R. J. Hunter, and R. W. O'Brien, J. Colloid Interface Sci. , in press) from measurements of the complex conductivity in the megahertz range.
