A new type of digital switching network for use in class five telephone offices is described. A special-purpose high-speed digital processor executing a stored program performs the switching functions. The network can provide programmable gain or loss as well as conference circuits for voice connections. It can also provide multiple and independent data circuits in combination with the voice circuits, The network can be used in any size telephone office, and can practically provide many new features and communication services.
