摘要
Lipids from various organs of Macrotermes natalensis and Macrotermes goliath queens were studied by thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and gas-liquid chromatography (GLC). Haemolymph lipids contain large quantities of hydrocarbons and approximately 55 per cent of fatty acids as esters. Iso-propanol is present in ester form and also some long-chain alcohols. Total cholesterol for the two species is 450 g/ml and 764 μg/ml respectively. Lipids from reproductive organs consist mainly of triglycerides, with some free fatty acids (FFA). Hydrocarbons and long-chain alcohols are also present, but no volatile alcohols. Fat body lipids consist predominantly of TGL and fairly large quantities of phospholipids (PL). All organs contain C16 : 0, C18 : 1, and C18 : 2 as major fatty acids, C16 : 1, C18 : 0, and C18 : 3 are also present but in smaller quantities. © 1969.
