A SIMPLE MECHANISTIC MODEL OF PHLOEM TRANSPORT WHICH EXPLAINS SINK PRIORITY

摘要
A simple model of phloem transport is presented, based upon Munch's original hypothesis of convective bulk flow driven by an osmotically generated pressure gradient and saturatable unloading kinetics, for a system consisting of a single source and two sinks. This model is shown to mimic a number of experimentally observed source-sink relations and to give a mechanistic interpretation to the concept of sink priority.
