IS HALDANE SINGLET TRIPLET TRANSITION FOUND IN CSNICL3

摘要
We investigated magnetic excitations in CsNiCl3 in magnetic fields up to 9.5 T by means of inelastic unpolarised neutron scattering. Assuming a threefold splitting at Q = (001) as observed in a previous polarised experiment at low fields, we find similar field behaviour at 2 and 7 K. The field dependence of the upper mode at Q = (0.39 0.39 1), T = 2 K, could point to a longitudinal character of the excitation as predicted by Affleck.
