摘要
The use of non-radioactive chromium-50 as a tracer is described, with particular application to the measurement of red cell survival time. The chromium content of serial blood samples was measured by neutron activation analysis. Many other radionuclides were produced, and chemical separation of the activated chromium gave the highest sensitivity of assay. Gamma ray spectrometry was used as an alternative procedure, and various methods of deriving the count rate due to 51Cr from the pulse height distribution were investigated and compared. The method is useful for double tracer studies or when it is desirable to avoid a radiation dose to a patient. © 1969.
