PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF UNIFORM NANOCRYSTALLINE PRISMATIC SNO2 PARTICLES

摘要
The preparation of nanosize prismatic SnO2 particles of fairly narrow size distribution by forced hydrolysis at 100-degrees-C of acidic SnCl4 solutions is described. The particles are monocrystalline, with cassiterite structure having the c axis parallel to their longest dimension. The thickness of the nanocrystals was evaluated by infrared spectroscopy. Thermogravimetric study has shown that sintering starts at temperatures several hundred degrees lower than with conventional microcrystalline SnO2 powders.
