POLARIZATION OF SINGULETT-TRANSITIONS OF HE EXCITED BY PROTON IMPACT

The polarization degree of the n1S-21P(n=3, 5)-, n1D-21P(n=3, 4, 5)- and n1P-21S(n=3, 4)-transitions of helium excited by proton impact has been measured in the energy range of 100 keV to 1 MeV. The results in connection with respective H2+- and e--impact values are used in a comparison with the principle statements of the 1. Born- and the Bethe-Born-approximation. The results are in a qualitative agreement with the theoretical calculations. © 1969 Springer-Verlag.
