摘要
A gallium arsenide laser array is described which is suitable as a transmitter for optical communications purposes in conjunction with a silicon photodiode detector system. It has a beamwidth of 180°in azimuth and 3°in elevation, and the lasers are cooled by a Joule-Thomson type gas liquefier. The array has a peak light output of 500 w. The average pulsed radio frequency is 500 Hz and the pulse length is 3 μs.
