DIRECT SYNTHESIS OF DIVALENT BETA-ALUMINA AND RELATED PHASES

摘要
A systematic investigation of the direct synthesis of several quarternary compounds of the form MgMeAl10O17 in which Me is a divalent cation, was carried out. The ionic radius of Me was increased from 0.69 to 1.35 Å while the structure and conductivity of the resulting phases were investigated. Divalent ions with an ionic radius substantially smaller than 1 Å consistently formed close-packed spinel structures. Divalent ions larger than 1 Å resulted in a host of metastable, conducting beta-alumina-type structures. © 1990.
