MODE SOFTENING AND MODE STIFFENING IN C-60 DOPED WITH ALKALI-METALS

摘要
The effect of charge transfer on the Raman-active modes in C60 crystals doped with alkali metals is considered. In particular, it is shown that, while the charge transfer from the alkali-metal atoms to the C60 molecules leads to mode softening of the tangential vibrational modes, the radial A(g) mode gets stiffer, in agreement with experiments. The mode-stiffening effect is shown to be a consequence of the curvature of the C60 molecule.
