摘要
This paper reviews the experience of the Bonsa Tyre Company, from its origin as a Ghanaian-foreign joint venture in the 1960s, through its 1981 nationalization, and up to its current performance under Ghana's structural adjustment program (SAP). The paper argues that from its inception, insufficient attention has been given to strengthening technological capability within the firm. As a result, the policy reforms of the SAP, aimed primarily at "getting prices right," have been insufficient to revive the firm's flagging performance. © 1990.
