The role of paramagnetic relaxation agents Cr(acac)3 and Fe(acac)3 and the effect of C-13-NMR instrumental conditions have been studied in quantification of branching in polyethylene. The addition of relaxation agent, with spectrometer set for gated decoupling mode and a pulse delay of 8.5 sec, has considerably shortened the experimentation time. Various grades of polyethylene have been analyzed for branching through computerized C-13-NMR under these conditions.
