PREPARATION OF HIGH-TC SUPERCONDUCTING OXIDE-FILMS IN THE BI-(PB)-CA-SR-CU-O SYSTEM FROM STABILIZED METAL-ALKOXIDES

High-Tc superconducting oxide films in the Bi(Pb)CaSrCuO system have been prepared from metal-alkoxides stabilized with amines, and their formation process has been studied. Films of the composition Bi2Ca2Sr2Cu3Ox were formed on MgO single crystal substrates by the dip-coating method and calcined at 820°C for 15 min. The above process was repeated about twenty times and then, as a final step, sintered at 850-870°C. Films sintered at 860°C for 20 h were strongly orientated with the c-axis perpendicular to the substrate and exhibited Tc (zero) at 86 K. The substitution for part of the Bi with Pb showed a tendency for Tc (zero) to shift toward higher temperatures, whereas the 110 K phase was not obtained. © 1990.
