BISTABLE DARK SOLITON SOLUTION IN DISPERSIVE MEDIA WITH A LINEAR AND QUADRATIC INTENSITY-DEPENDING REFRACTION INDEX CHANGE

摘要
An analytical dark soliton solution of the generalized nonlinear Schrodinger equation has been found for a dispersive medium with a linear and quadratic intensity depending refraction index change of the form n = n2 Absolute value of A2 + n4 Absolute value of A4. It is shown that for the parameter range n2n4 < 0 and k1"n2 > 0, two-valued (bistable) solution states exist, which describe undistorted holes with the same width but two different amplitudes. Under certain conditions such two-valued solution states show an unexpected behaviour at collisions, as solution fusion and other effects.
