摘要
The fourth international workshop on the mapping of Chromosome 11 was held at St. John's College, Oxford, UK from September 25-28, 1994. There were 52 participants from ten different countries (a list of names and addresses is attached at the end of this report). 46 abstracts were submitted and their subject matter developed in posters which were presented at the meeting. A significant quantity of new data was presented, most of it at some stage towards the end of the publication process. A large amount of mapping has been carried out on chromosome 11 which, even when already published has not been effectively integrated with data from other laboratories. Much of this lag in data consolidation arises because there is no suitable graphical interface available currently to permit data collected in one graphical format in one laboratory to be combined meaningfully with data from other sources, often collected in some other format. Therefore it was decided in advance by the organisers to concentrate on creating at least some fragmentary maps carrying data from several groups and providing a mutually acceptable picture of various sub-regions. Where there is controversy this will be highlighted so that anyone interested in the regions in question can attempt to resolve discrepancies and provide that new information to the community through data submission to GDB and publication. To address these aims the meeting was organised predominantly around seven map-making subgroups, each with a number of ''committee'' members who had been asked in advance to take on the task of coordinating data for their particular type of map. These groups produced the combined data which is presented below. They were aided in this task by any participants with an interest and expertise in the maps being developed. References are cited only where they are new or essential, otherwise they may be found in association with the relevant loci in GDB. Wherever possible, the mapping resources (libraries, cell lines etc.) as well as contact names for obtaining clones etc., are identified.
