CONCERTED X-RAY PHOTOELECTRON-SPECTROSCOPY STUDY OF THE CHARACTER OF SELECT CARBONACEOUS MATERIALS

摘要
In the present study we describe an analysis of the interrelationship of several x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) techniques recently employed to describe different types of carbon-carbon and carbon-hydrogen bonding. Several systems containing only these types of bonds (e.g., graphite and polyethylene) have also been subjected to ozonation and their degree and type of oxidation analyzed. The latter has led to a novel view of the resulting bonding and the XPS peak previously classified as O(2s).
