Ionozation potential of mercury by photoelectron spectrometry

摘要
The kinetic energy spectrum of photoelectrons ejected from mercury vapor by 584 angstrom radiation has been used to determine four ionization potentials. The highest, at 20.725 eV and hitherto unknown, is assigned to the removal of a 5p electron to leave Hg+ in the P-2(3/2) state.
