MEASUREMENT OF OXYGEN CHEMICAL-POTENTIALS WITH A CALCIUM-FLUORIDE SOLID ELECTROLYTE

摘要
Calcium fluoride has been conventionally used as a solid electrolyte to measure fluorine chemical potentials in high temperature systems. In this paper, the use of a CaF2 electrolyte to measure oxygen chemical potentials is discussed. Reproducible open-circuit emf's have been obtained using the following two cells in the temperature range, 700°-850°C [formula omitted] The emf results from the two cells are in excellent agreement. A theoretical analysis is presented to explain the observed results. © 1979, The Electrochemical Society, Inc. All rights reserved.
