CRYSTAL-GROWTH AND CRYSTAL-CHEMISTRY OF NIAS-TYPE COMPOUNDS MNSB, COSB, AND NISB

NiSb and CoSb single crystals with different transition-metal-to-antimony ratios were grown by pulling with a seed from a nonstoichiometric molten solution using a liquid B2O3 encapsulation. Based on the crystal growth, metallographic examination, and differential thermal analysis, the partial phase diagrams in the vicinity of stoichiometric NiSb and CoSb have been reestablished. The lattice parameters of the two compounds as a function of the composition have been measured. These results, together with data obtained previously from MnSb, have been correlated with the crystal chemistry of the formation of the compounds. © 1978.
