LOCALIZATION OF ELECTRONS IN A MAGNETIC-FIELD

摘要
The question of the Wigner condensation of electrons in a strong magnetic field is re-examined using a tight-binding approximation wavefunction formed from localised states. The kinetic energy, the exchange energy for electrons with the same x, y coordinates, and the Coulomb energy are calculated. The ground state is shown to be either a three-dimensional Wigner lattice, or a charge density wave.
