摘要
Coarse-grained Al2O3 powder was homogeneously sputter coated with a thin nickel or platinum film and in part subsequently ion beam mixed by 60 keV Ar+ ion bombardment. The sintering behaviour of the coated powders as compared with untreated samples was determined. The sintering rate is almost unchanged for nickel-coated powders, while platinum coating decreases the sintering rate when treated at the same temperature. The magnetic properties and electrical conductivity of sintered samples as well as the catalytic properties of the coated powders with respect to NO and CO conversion were additionally measured. They show a certain conductivity, i.e. a "bulk-metallized" ceramic material can be prepared. Furthermore, the system for sputter coating and ion beam treatment is described.
