摘要
1. Substance P, physalaemin and eledoisin cause salivary secretion in the hen. 2. Atropine, phentolamine, propranolol and antazoline did not inhibit the peptide induced salivation. The peptide-induced rise in blood pressure was, however, blocked by large doses of phentolamine. 3. In contrast to the substance P preparation (containing only fraction Fa), Zetler's fraction Fc was devoid of sialogogic and hypertensive action. 4. Bovine parotid gland contains a peptide fraction with activity on smooth muscle but different from substance P. 5. Sustance P and eledoisin can clearly be discriminated by their relative activity on salivation in the chicken and the rat and on the guinea pig ileum. The discrimination between substance P and physalaemin in these tests is much less marked and near the limit of significance. © 1968 Springer-Verlag.
