We study a particularly simple model of ionic transport in oxide glasses based on the view that ions are diffusing under the influence of long-range Coulombic potential wells originating from non-bridging oxygen ions. Specifically it is shown from Monte Carlo simulation that hopping of charged particles in the presence of a random distribution of charge-compensating centers leads to a strong variation of the diffusion constant with carrier concentration and to power laws in the dynamic response which arise from dipolar correlations. We discuss our results in relation with certain general features observed in transport and ac measurements on oxide glasses.
