摘要
Differences in behaviour between the two quasi-1D Heisenberg antiferromagnets AgVP2S6 (S = 1) and AgCrP2S6 (S = 3/2) have been evidenced by susceptibility measurements, neutron powder diffraction and inelastic neutron scattering. The results obtained for the S = 1 compound are consistent with Haldane's conjecture as well as existing numerical results. The S = 3/2 compound behaves conventionally above the 3D ordering temperature (T(N) = 20 K).
