摘要
We have measured the decay modes of 232U and found that the decay rate λ = (2.75±1.91)×10-22 s-1 quoted in the literature for spontaneous fission of 232U is not compatible with our measured upper limit λ<3.21×10-24 s-1, while being close to the rate of the exotic decay mode 232U → 208Pb + 24Ne. These results can be understood in terms of a superfluid tunneling model and correlated with the nuclear structure of the isotopes of uranium and neon. © 1990.
