A NEW SURVEY FOR QUASAR CLUSTERING

We present the results of an automated grism survey for quasars with the CTIO 4 m telescope and the Automated Plate Measuring machine in the strip of sky centered at 12h 10m, -11-degrees 00' and of area 6.1 deg2. The survey consists of a homogeneously selected sample of 127 quasars and 24 additional quasars and emission-line galaxies. It is particularly sensitive in the redshift interval 1.5 < z < 3.0, reaching objects as faint as 21.5 mag. The main selection criterion for quasar candidates is the presence of an emission line. The corrected quasar surface density is 26 deg-2 (19 deg-2 for z > 1.5). Finding charts, positions, redshifts, magnitudes, and spectra for all the quasars and emission-line galaxies are presented. Analysis of the sample shows no evidence for clustering or other departure from a randomly distributed population. The 1-delta envelope on the correlation function is 0.1-0.15 for scales of 50 < r < 700 Mpc (H0 = 100).
