Simultaneous optical manipulation and lasing of a rhodamine 640-doped polystyrene latex particle in water was demonstrated through irradiation of a single focused 1064 nm CW Nd:YAG laser beam. Lasing of the particle resulting from two-photon absorption was confirmed from periodically spaced peaks in the emission spectrum and from nonlinear (more than quadratic) dependence of the emission intensity upon the incident laser power.
