摘要
Observation of third-harmonic conversion of 308-nm radiation from an XeCl laser in argon is reported. Variation of the harmonic signal at 102.7 nm with pump power and argon pressure is characteristic of conversion of a tightly focused beam in a negatively dispersive medium with no saturation evident up to intensity levels of the order of 2 x 1011 W/cm2. Effects of the spatial and spectral characteristics of the XeCl-laser output on conversion efficiency are discussed. © 1979, Optical Society of America.
